Today we start Persuasion! (Let the rejoicing begin!) Our Librivox version is read by (the really quite excellent) Karen Savage. Chapters 1-3 and not much else except...we say a hearty "WHOOT!" to Rachael Herron (you probably know her as Yarn-a-go-go) on the eve of her very first book release! Very exciting stuff. You can pick it up at your local bookstore, Target, and the ubiquitous online book venues. And if you're looking to expand your crafty blog horizon, may I recommend two of Rachael's other venues? Pens Fatales and Romancing the Yarn. Here's a link to an excerpt from How to Knit a Love Song, Rachel's new book--the first in a series. Oh, and most importantly: Librivox needs our help. Even if you can't donate, please put a link back to their page on your blogs. They do so much for us. |

End of Book! Yowsa! Yes, the end of Flatland. End of my romance with math...or my infatuation that turns out to be completely misleading like how that guy was who I dated while I was teaching at the reading school who... um...TMI? Infatuation? Maybe. Because I fooled myself into thinking I could balance my checkbook if I understood Flatland. There is no Transitive Property in my life. The Lightning Thief (by Rick Riordan)! Read the book...not so much the movie thing... And that's about it! Have a great time until I get back with Persuasion (thanks Meg!). Book chat begins around 11 minutes in. I conquer Greenland. (And there was much rejoicing…) Some links: Needle Noodles! How do I love the Valkyrie? SOoooo much! Link to Christen Haden’s book “Creepy Cute Crochet”; Terry Pratchett‘s sad speech; “Too Late to Apologize” based on a Timbaland song (see below) and the nifty work of the SoomoPublishing group, and, um… Donnegal Tweed in #809 teal, anyone?
Book talk begins at: 25:45
Lyrics to “Too Late…” Halfway across the globe And we're standing on new ground Screaming 'cross the waves You can't hear a sound There's no fair trials, no trade, no liberties No tea We've colonized America; we won't stand for tyranny, Oh king And it's too late to apologize It's too late I said it's too late to apologize It's too late We've paid your foolish tax, read the acts And they just won't do We want to make it clear, we believe this much is true All men were created with certain Unalienable rights Among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit Of happiness And it's too late to apologize It's too late I said it's too late to apologize It's too late… |
